Back in Salt Water - Gulf of Mexico

Back in Salt Water - Gulf of Mexico

After a long trip on the rivers, we finally arrived back in salt water .... Mobile, Alabama!
We cruised the Florida panhandle and crossed the Gulf of Mexico from Nov 2 to Nov 11

Drinks at Dauphins with the crews from Aleka and Nautilus

I was in the engine room and a thunderstorm came in.
Luke doesn't like these storms and came to be with me :-)

Yes, he found sticks here too!

We couldn't attend the Messina's annual Halloween party, but Bill, Kim and Luke were
there still! (great job Kim and Ralph!)

Apalachicola, FL
Last stop along the pan handle before we cross the Gulf.

Apalachicola was one of favorite stops!

Our planned Gulf crossing route - Apalachicola to Clearwater

The weather reports looked good, it was a beautiful sunset.
A perfect beginning to the all night trip

As the night went on the weather deteriorated and the seas picked up.
Luke was not a happy camper

Clearwater, FL.
It took 19 hours to cross the Gulf, we arrived at 5:00 AM.
It was very long and uncomfortable night, but we made it!
